Woven Topographies
@ Oberlin Conservatory TIMARA Gallery 2022
The history of textiles is embedded in everything, language, song, binary code, yet its physicality is not permanent. It breaks down, disintegrates, disappears. It can only be detected in small traces, as scraps, or a single fiber from thousands of years ago.
Take a seat in the chair matted in flax. Let your fingers explore the web in front of you, and search for the points of memory where touch ignites song. Where sound is tethered by linen threads. Pull the fabric up over your lap and listen to the voices ebb and flow.
An interactive installation and performance piece.
